Ramayana and Varanasi: A Battle of Grandeur

Ramayana vs Varanasi: SS Rajamouli and Namit Malhotra

The Ramayana teaser has given audiences an idea of the scale Namit Malhotra is planning for the epic. And now, one question comes up: what does this mean for SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi?

Rajamouli has said he was never fully satisfied with how Indian epics were presented on screen. He wants to give these stories the kind of grandeur they deserve, and Varanasi is his chance to attempt that. The film also features a Ramayana episode, making the comparison with Namit Malhotra’s project hard to ignore.

Rajamouli has already raised the bar with Baahubali and RRR. But Ramayana is now showing its own ambition, and audiences will naturally look at how Varanasi measures up when more footage is revealed.

Of course, bigger visuals alone won’t decide which film leaves a stronger impression. The world has to feel real, and the story has to carry the spectacle. That is where the real challenge lies for both films.

Ramayana has shown its hand with the teaser. Rajamouli is yet to reveal the full world of Varanasi. Until then, the question of which film delivers the bigger cinematic experience will keep audiences curious.
