Kantara Case, Court’s Fresh Order: Will Ranveer Singh Agree?

The controversy around Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 continues to draw attention as fresh developments emerge in court. Actor Ranveer Singh’s remarks during a recent public appearance have now led to legal scrutiny and public debate across Karnataka.

During promotions for Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh attended an event at the Goa International Film Festival. While praising Rishab Shetty’s performance in Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1, he mimicked a scene and referred to the female deity as a female ghost.

The remark sparked strong reactions, especially among Kannada audiences. Several groups condemned the statement, calling it disrespectful to the Daiva tradition. An FIR was later filed by the Bengaluru police, citing charges of hurting religious sentiments.

Following the backlash, Ranveer Singh moved the Karnataka High Court seeking to quash the FIR. The matter came up for hearing today, where both sides presented their arguments before the court regarding the controversy.

During the hearing, the public lawyer argued that Ranveer Singh’s apology on social media lacked sincerity. It was suggested that the statement may have been issued by his management team rather than the actor himself.

Ranveer Singh’s legal team responded by stating that the actor is considering submitting a formal affidavit. The affidavit would convey his regret clearly. They also informed the court that he is willing to visit a temple and apologise in person.

After hearing both sides, the judge observed that a mistake had been made. The court noted that as a public figure, Ranveer Singh should have exercised greater caution while speaking on sensitive subjects.

The court also stressed the need for a genuine apology in the matter. The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for April 10, keeping the issue open for further developments.

For now, the case remains under close watch. It is unclear whether the legal proceedings will intensify or conclude smoothly, depending on the court’s response to Ranveer Singh’s proposed affidavit.
