Ranveer Singh has recently responded to an FIR that was registered against him due to the controversy that emerged from his mimicry of the lead character from Kantara: Chapter 1. The actor has now challenged the same at the Karnataka High Court on Monday, February 23.
A petition submitted on behalf of RS said that he was praising the work of Rishab Shetty, aiming to quash the complaint that has been filed. However, his actions were wrongly given a criminal angle. While the defense was seeking an urgent hearing, the request was rejected by the court.
Ranveer’s team alleged that the actor has received two notices so far. The court asked the reasons behind asking for a sudden hearing, adding whether the investigation should be simply completed because the petitioner is from Bollywood, or they should act quickly for a Hollywood star. Despite criticism towards the defense, a hearing date of Tuesday, February 24, has been given.
Online users immediately responded on social media. Rishab’s fans defended him by saying that Ranveer should accept that he was wrong. A few even criticized the fact that RS has destroyed Indian culture with his weird dresses, and that Rishab has done the best to show the culture on the big screen.
A particular section claimed that Ranveer was possibly trying to get some attention as his movie, Dhurandhar 2, is arriving in theatres in a few weeks. They said that the petition was a promotional strategy, aiming to get a big opening on the first day.
Ranveer’s fans intervened, saying that he has already apologized, and so the FIR holds no value. The supporters even requested Rishab Shetty to step in and resolve the matter instead of letting some people make it worse.
With a day left for the hearing, it remains to be seen if Ranveer will be let go by the court or the matter will take a different turn this time.
