Rashmika No. 1: Can She Stay Ahead of Deepika, Alia & Sai?

Rashmika Mandanna has achieved another major milestone. The actress, who began her career with Kirik Party before becoming a major Telugu and Hindi star, has reportedly topped India Today’s Mood of the Nation ranking of India’s most popular heroines. Deepika Padukone is in second place.

However, the timing of this achievement is interesting. Rashmika recently faced a big setback with Cocktail 2, where her performance was also heavily trolled. While her popularity remains strong, she cannot afford too many such choices if she wants to become one of the biggest female stars in the country.

Her next two films, Rana Baali and Mysaa, are therefore extremely important.

Rana Baali brings her back with Vijay Deverakonda, while Mysaa gives her a chance to lead a female-oriented action film. Success in both could strengthen her position at the top. Another disappointment, however, could raise questions about whether her popularity is translating into box-office value.

The competition is also getting tougher.

Deepika may have been relatively quiet recently, but event films like King and Raaka could quickly change that. Alia Bhatt also remains a strong contender, with Love and War expected to be one of the biggest films next year.

Then there is Sai Pallavi. Ramayana is arriving during Diwali this year, and her portrayal of Sita could give her a completely different level of nationwide visibility. If the film becomes the expected pan-India event, Sai Pallavi’s popularity could rise sharply. Unlike a normal commercial film, Ramayana has the potential to make her face familiar even to audiences who may not regularly follow her films.

Kriti Sanon and Shraddha Kapoor are also in the race with strong projects ahead.

So, Rashmika may be No. 1 today, but the position is far from secure. Her next few films will be crucial.

The real question is simple: How long can Rashmika hold on to the No. 1 spot?
