First Teachers, Now Ayyappa Group: Trouble For Irumudi

Ravi Teja’s Irumudi has found itself in another controversy. The film is now facing objections from the Akhila Bharata Ayyappa Deeksha Prachara Samithi. The group held a press meet in Hyderabad and demanded an apology from Ravi Teja and the entire team.

Their main objection is the way Ayyappa Deeksha and Guruswamis are shown in the film. The Samithi claims that some portions give a wrong impression about devotees and their practices. They also questioned why the name Irumudi was being used for a crime-based film.

The group has particularly objected to the alleged portrayal of devotees consuming alcohol and taking the mala only for a limited period before returning to their old habits.

This is the second issue surrounding Irumudi in a short span.

Earlier, teachers’ organisations had raised objections over the film’s portrayal of government schools and teachers. Now the film has another group questioning its content.

The Ayyappa organisation has asked the team to apologise and seek forgiveness at Sabarimala. The ball is now in the Irumudi team’s court. Lets wait and see how Ravi Teja and Shiva Nirvana will respond?
