Irumudi has completely changed Ravi Teja’s career equation. After a long run of bad films, he finally has a blockbuster that has gone far beyond just giving him a hit.
The biggest surprise is its staying power. Even in the third week, villagers are reportedly coming to theatres in tractors, with holiday shows seeing packed houses. No paid drama or manufactured crowds. Just organic audience craze.
Now Ravi Teja faces an important career decision. He cannot afford to repeat the same mistakes and rush into the next film simply to maintain momentum.
Interestingly, his previously planned project with Sree Vishnu, directed by Hasith Goli and produced by Dil Raju, is reportedly being held back because the script needs more work. Ravi is now said to be moving towards Vivek Athreya’s film, which could be announced soon.
The reported concept sounds interesting. It is said to be a commercial entertainer with horror elements, combining the thrill of Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, the mass action of Krack, and the comedy energy of Kick. If Vivek Athreya can genuinely blend these elements, it could be an exciting follow-up to Irumudi.
The Raja Saab also creates an interesting comparison. Prabhas recently attempted a big horror-comedy entertainer, but the film became a disaster. Ravi Teja does not need to compete with Prabhas on scale. His strength is naturally combining comedy, action, and emotion. If Vivek builds the film around those strengths, the same genre could produce a very different result.
Also, he must take enough time for production and not hurry any film just to meet a festive release deadline. Irumudi released during a non-festive period amid huge competition and still emerged as a massive blockbuster.
Ravi Teja has finally regained audience confidence. Now, choosing the right script instead of chasing a lucrative release date could be the most important decision of his comeback.
