RT’s Lowest – Will Nela Ticket Force A Change?

In the last decade, Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja has made 21 films and that too by not having a release one whole year. It is a great feat and something that needs to be emulated by others as well.

While making those many films is appreciated, Ravi Teja is missing one essential thing, and that is a regular success. Among the 21 films, he has a total of 6 outright successes. There are a few near successful as well, but even accounting them the total wouldn’t hit double-digits. This is a poor record and it was actually the reason the forced him to take a break.

Ravi Teja has long ago stated that there is no need to make different films and he has been following that and making only commercial entertainers. But, obviously that is not working out, and also he is getting repetitive. Maybe it is the right time for him to make the switch to content-oriented movies within the commercial format.

The decade-old mass masala entertainers are not working, and as a result, Ravi Teja is losing his opening power. He reached a peak with Kick 2, and since then each successive film has been opening lower. Nela Ticket is the lowest. With a Srinu Vytla flick coming up next, one shudders to think the kind of opening it might get.

There might be a success along the way, just like Balupu happened, but it wouldn’t be of any use if the choice of movies doesn’t change. One doesn’t suddenly evaporate in air, the writing is on the wall, and if the star is not careful enough to read it, things will reach an irreversible state. Well, we hope that is not the case.
