R-Day weekend gives lifeline to ailing films

The Republic Day weekend has proved to be last shot in arm for Sankranthi releases Gopala Gopala and I. Both the film that were on a crash post the holidays posted good numbers over the weekend taking the a bit further after one had expected them to completely fold.

Gopala Gopala had bigger advantage of the two thanks to family audience participation as usual. The film had earlier crossed the 40 Cr mark but soon saw a big crash making the trade give an ending figure to its run. Now with a good weekend, it has seen the final surge in collection which was unexpected. It was the same case with I as well.

Still both the film will end up being losing ventures for the distributors with I being the bigger one. Gopala Gopala is getting settled for an average verdict as it has managed to post good numbers in few areas unlike the Shankar biggie that will be a losing venture in all areas.
