Rey and the Ram Charan connection

Rey directed by YVS Chowdhary hits the silver screens this Friday after a massive delay more than year. Not getting into reasons for delay now that the film is all set to release, here’s an interesting update on the film that director shared today.

Rey was supposed to be Mega Powerstar Ram Charan’s debut venture according to the words of the director. He says that right after the success of Devadas in 2006, producer C Ashwini Dutt and Chiranjeevi had asked him to come up with a story and Rey is the script YVS Chowdhary gave to them. Unfortunately it couldn’t take off and Charan made his debut with Chirutha.

The same story was later accepted for debut of Sai Dharam Tej which is now releasing after these many hurdles. Was Charan lucky or unlucky we will know on March 27th which incidentally also happens to be Charan’s birthday.
