Rs.1.66 Crore IT case reopened on Megastar

The 2002 income tax case against megastar which was closed by the High Court was once again reopened in the Supreme Court by an appeal by the income tax department against the tax exemption permitted to the megastar.

The case is pertaining to the popular television show ‘Kaun Banega Karodpati’ hosted by megastar Amitabh bachan. The star had to pay Rs.1.66 crores to the income tax department. But he asked for exemption for being an artist. The case was re-opened several times.

Once again, the income tax department wants to fight it out in the apex court. Supreme Court too allowed to reopen the 2001 tax case against the megastar. Will Amitabh get relief (30% exemption for artists) in the top court also? Let’s see.
