Prabhas’s Salaar has made a winning debut on OTT with superb trends right from the day of its premiere. The film is trending atop on Netflix India and is the most-watched non-English film on Netflix in its first week, according to a report from the OTT platform itself.
While Netflix India should be super happy with the blockbuster reception Salaar is getting, Amazon Prime should be repenting the miss.
Amazon bagged the previous film of Prabhas – Adipurush, and both the previous films of Prashanth Neel – KGF 1 and 2. But for some reason, this OTT giant didn’t go after the combination-hyped Salaar. This is a big miss, considering that Amazon any way has enough resources to go after any film.
Netflix should be elated about striking the right chord with Salaar, again after RRR. Interestingly, Salaar is getting good reviews from the international audience as well, which is unexpected at first.
After RRR, no Indian film could give Netflix the kind of mad rush be it domestically or internationally. Salaar has started well in the domestic market, as the trends suggest. Perhaps the mass action shots have struck a chord with the OTT audience as well.
