After Deepika Padukone officially joined the cast of Atlee’s next big action film with Allu Arjun, titled AA22xA6, social media has erupted in celebration and controversy.
The announcement video, released by Sun Pictures on June 7, shows Atlee narrating the film to Deepika, followed by high-octane visuals of her shooting an action sequence in a VFX suit.
The caption read: “The Queen marches to conquer! Welcome onboard Deepika Padukone.”
As expected, the video received massive attention online. Samantha Ruth Prabhu took to Instagram and shared the clip, writing “Yasss Queen,” while Kajal Aggarwal posted “Beyond Stunning” in admiration.
However, what should have been a moment of celebration has now turned into an internet debate.
Some social media handles and fans, especially supporters of Prabhas, believe that the praise Deepika Padukone is getting from other celebrities is a planned publicity stunt.
They say this is Deepika’s way to shift attention away from her being dropped from Spirit directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga starring Prabhas.
These fans think Deepika wants to show through her PR tactics that losing her was Vanga’s mistake, not hers. Some also accuse these group of actresses, calling them a feminist gang trying to bring down Vanga and shame him indirectly.
However, these ideas don’t hold up when you look closer. Samantha, who praised Deepika, has worked with director Atlee on three films and is friends with his wife. Kajal also has a good professional and personal relationship with Atlee. Both heroines have acted in many movies with Allu Arjun.
Their support for Deepika appears to come from genuine friendship and industry respect, not a planned PR move.
Celebrating a fellow actress landing a major role shouldn’t automatically be labeled as a PR strategy. Sometimes, a “Yasss Queen” is just that—and nothing more.
