Sanjay Dutt Favoured AGAIN?

In an act of surprise for the nation, Sanjay Dutt has once again been granted parole, following which he was released from Pune’s Yerwada jail. Sanjay Dutt is serving a five year prison sentence for possessing illegal firearms which were associated with 1993 blasts. Previously, Dutt had earned a short reprieve from jail on medical ground. He had made use of 15 days leave of furlough and had further extended it to another fortnight for medical reasons.

This time Sanjay Dutt had applied for parole by citing his wife Manyata’s ill health. This has prompted a lot of backlash, many of which is about the honesty of the grounds for parole since Manyata was apparently attending the screening of a film as well as a celebrity birthday party that day itself. The backlash is also about possible favouritism towards Dutt due to his celebrity status.
