Sankranthi 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most crowded and high-voltage festive seasons for Telugu cinema in recent years. Along with straight Telugu releases, several major Tamil films dubbed into Telugu are also joining the race, making it a packed period both in theatres and later on OTT platforms. With intense box-office competition expected, digital rights for most big films have already been locked.
Leading the lineup is Prabhas’ The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi, scheduled for release on January 9, 2026. The horror-comedy entertainer is trying to generate some buzz but songs, trailer aren’t helping much. Its OTT rights have been acquired by Jio Hotstar. Given Prabhas’ pan-India appeal, the film is expected to draw attention in theatres as well as on OTT.
Releasing on the same day is Jana Nayagan, Tamil superstar Vijay’s farewell film directed by H. Vinoth. The film will release in Tamil along with a dubbed Telugu version, with Amazon Prime Video securing its OTT rights.
Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, directed by Anil Ravipudi, is expected to arrive on January 12, 2026. Zee5 has bagged the film’s OTT rights after Anil Ravipudi’s last blockbuster Sankranthiki Vastunnam.
Other Sankranthi releases include Bhartha Mahasayulaku Vignapthi (Zee5), Anaganaga Oka Raju (Netflix), and Nari Nari Naduma Murari (Amazon Prime Video). With such big films spread across leading platforms, Sankranthi 2026 is shaping up to be not just a theatrical festival but also a massive post-theatrical OTT season for Telugu movie lovers.
