Sankranthi 2027: Too Many Films, Too Little Space

Sankranthi 2027 is slowly becoming the one release window everyone wants to grab. Film after film is joining the race, and the festival calendar is getting crowded months before the actual season.

The latest entrant is Sree Vishnu and Ram Abbaraju’s Family Pack. It joins January 12 Vidudala, Sambarala Yeti Gattu, Kaaka, the Ravi Teja-Sree Vishnu project and several other films targeting the same window. Mahakali is also eyeing January 8, while Nagarjuna’s next is lined up for Sankranthi.

What makes this rush interesting is the mix. Big stars, pan-India projects, medium-budget entertainers and smaller films are all chasing the same holiday advantage. Everyone wants the family audience and the extra theatrical push that Sankranthi can offer.

But there is only so much space.

The real fight starts when theatres and shows are divided. Ten films can announce Sankranthi dates, but they cannot all get prime screens and long runs. Some of these dates are almost certain to change once production schedules, business and theatre allocations become clearer.

For now, everyone wants Sankranthi 2027. The bigger question is simple: how many will actually survive the race?
