The Sankranthi 2027 race is getting increasingly crowded, with several major Telugu films preparing to target the festival season.
Chiranjeevi’s Mega 158, directed by Bobby Kolli, is reportedly aiming for a Sankranthi release. According to reports, the film has been titled Kaaka. However, the official title is expected to be announced on Chiranjeevi’s birthday, August 22.
Sharwanand’s film with Sreenu Vaitla is also expected to enter the Sankranthi race. The film has reportedly been titled George Krish.
Another major contender is the Venkatesh and Kalyan Ram multistarrer directed by Anil Ravipudi. The makers are reportedly considering three titles, including Shrimathi Lalitha Venkat Reddy (Bammardi Balreddy Sowjanyam Tho), Bammardi Bal Reddy and January 12 Vidudala. Among these, January 12 Vidudala is said to be the most likely option. The title itself appears to be designed around the Sankranthi release date.
Sai Durgha Tej’s Sambarala Yeti Gattu has also officially joined the Sankranthi 2027 race. The Rs. 100-crore period action film, directed by Rohith KP, has been in production for nearly two years and is being made on a lavish scale. The makers have locked January 12, 2027, as the release date.
Ravi Teja and Sree Vishnu are also reportedly entering the race with their comedy entertainer. Some quirky titles, including Veeradhi Veerulu Anta and Mahila Mithra Mandali Taluka, are being discussed. The combination itself has generated curiosity, and a Sankranthi release could give the film additional visibility.
Nagarjuna’s King 100 is another project being discussed for the festive season, with Lottery King reportedly among the title options. As Nagarjuna’s landmark 100th film, the project naturally has some curiosity. However, its exact release plans and title are still being worked out.
With Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Kalyan Ram, Sharwanand, Ravi Teja, Sree Vishnu, Sai Durgha Tej and Nagarjuna potentially targeting the same festival, Sankranthi 2027 could become one of the most crowded Telugu release windows in recent years.
And this may still not be the final list. Balakrishna’s NBK111 could also join the race, while Prabhas’ Fauzi could enter the Sankranthi battle if it misses its December 3 release date.
The biggest question now is not who wants Sankranthi, but who will actually stay until the final race.
