Last year we saw a fierce box office battle between Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna during the Sankranthi festival. Both films did well, but Chiru’s Waltair Veerayya emerged as the winner over Balaiah’s Veera Simha Reddy.
This year two senior legendary heroes are again battling it out during the Sankranthi festive season. Venkatesh is coming up with the emotional action thriller Saindhav whereas Nagarjuna is trying his luck with the rural mass entertainer Naa Saami Ranga.
In the past, these two heroes have clashed at the box office during Sankranthi and both times Venkatesh emerged as the winner.
In 1989, Venkatesh and Nagarjuna clashed at the box office with Prema and Vijay during the Sankranthi season. Prema turned out to be a musical blockbuster whereas Vijay was a flop. In Sankranthi 1992, Venkatesh’s Chanti was released on 10th January. Nagarjuna’s stylish thriller Killer was also released on the same date. While Chanti emerged as an Industry hit, Killer was just an average fare.
Usually Venkatesh doesn’t have any haters but there has been an online rivalry between Nagarjuna and Venkatesh fans for many years over records. After many years both heroes are clashing with big movies. It would be interesting to see if Venkatesh will win the clash once again or if Nagarjuna will take his revenge this time.
