Sardar 2 faces tough start in Telugu states

Karthi has a strong market in the Telugu states, but Sardar 2 is struggling to convert that goodwill into ticket sales. The film reportedly entered the Telugu market at around Rs 10 crore, and its opening day has raised questions about how much of that business can be recovered.

The warning signs appeared soon after the first shows. The film received mostly negative reactions, and several multiplex shows were cancelled across the Telugu states because of poor occupancy. The cancellations happened on Day 1 itself, making the weak turnout a setback for the sequel.

The problem is not limited to the initial talk. Once shows start disappearing this early, the film loses valuable screen space at the box office. The next few days are therefore important, but the initial momentum is clearly missing.

The national numbers are also not particularly encouraging. Sardar 2 reportedly collected around Rs 6.80 crore worldwide on Day 1, with 24.5% overall occupancy in India.

For the Telugu version, the road ahead looks difficult. A significant weekend improvement is now important for the film to recover its reported Rs 10 crore market value.

Otherwise, the Telugu theatrical business could face a substantial shortfall. At this stage, Sardar 2 Telugu needs a strong turnaround in the coming days to improve its box office prospects.
