Karthi’s long pending film Sardar 2 directed by PS Mithran was finally released in theatres today and is receiving negative responses from audiences and critics.
Since the original Sardar was a successful venture, many people had decent expectations for the Sequel. However, Sardar 2 ended up as a terrible disappointment and viewers, after watching it in theatres, are claiming it to be the worst Kollywood film released in recent times.
They suggest that even though Sardar 2 has a fresh plot director PS Mithran has wasted it with a poor screenplay and even SJ Suryah’s acting performance as an antagonist didn’t add any value to the film.
Following the underwhelming reviews for Sardar 2, social media has been flooded with severe trolls and criticism against the makers. Especially, Karthi, during the Telugu pre-release event of Sardar 2, compared the film with Kamal Haasan’s Indian.
Now, after the negative result for Sardar 2, netizens are pointing to Karthi’s statement and trolling him, saying that what he stated is exactly true and Sardar 2 is now being received by the audience on the same lines as Indian 2.
While Sardar 2’s opening was already very poor, the underwhelming response and the trolls against the makers have made it difficult for the film to sustain itself in theatres, as bookings have dropped heavily.
Ultimately, with negative word of mouth and online trolls, it remains to be seen how Sardar 2 is going to perform at the box office in the following days and whether it will at least cross the break-even mark in its final run.
