“Seetha- I’m Not a Virgin”, in Trouble

Youtuber Deepti Suanaina is in trouble for the short film that she played the lead role in. “Seetha-I’m not a Virgin” is a recent Telugu short film made by Kaushik Babu in support to the rape victims. Though the movie has got a good message on welcoming the rape victims abuse into the society but it is the usage of name “Seetha” in the title that has attracted the controversy.

There was a complaint filed in Neredment police station against the actress and the maker of the film Kaushik Babu, by a BJP leader before the release of the film on youtube stating that the title need to be changed as it hurts the religious feelings with the usage of Lord Rama’s wife Seetha’ name in it.

The film was released on youtube recently which had too received quite a negative response on the title. People started to abuse Kaushik and Deepti Sunaina on their Facebook pages.

Kaushik, in his defense, said that the title was not made to hurt any gods or religion and that “Seetha” is just a name of the character of the film. He has also filed a legal notice on those who threatened him for life and abused him and his family using derogative comments.
