Sequel Horror: Banner With Worst Track Record

Indian 2 stands out as one of the most disappointing sequels ever made. Its predecessor, ‘Indian’ (1996), was celebrated for its innovative storytelling and gripping drama.

However, Indian 2 not only failed to live up to its predecessor but is also being criticized as Shankar’s weakest film.

Before Indian 2, Shankar ventured into 2.0, a sequel to Robo, which also received mixed reviews and left many fans dissatisfied.

Interestingly, both Indian 2 and 2.0 were backed by Lyca Productions, a production house that seems to have a troubled history with sequels.

Lyca Productions’ track record with sequels extends beyond these two films, and unfortunately, it’s a story of consistent disappointment.

Maniratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2 and P Vasu’s Chandramukhi 2, both produced by Lyca Productions, failed to match the success and acclaim of their predecessors.

Chandramukhi 2, in particular, was a complete failure in terms of story, screenplay, direction, and performances.

Looking ahead, Lyca Productions is gearing up for another sequel, Indian 2: War Mode, slated for 2025. Given their recent track record, expectations are low for this upcoming release as well.
