SRK Quits Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2: 1000 Cr Dream in Danger?

Ever since Rajinikanth’s much awaited sequel Jailer 2 was announced, Kollywood audiences have been eager to know which stars will appear in cameo roles. The original film created a strong impact with appearances by Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar.

In recent months, social media has been filled with speculation that Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan would feature in Jailer 2. This gained momentum after Mithun Chakraborty hinted in an interview that both he and Shah Rukh Khan were part of the project.

However, fresh reports now suggest that Shah Rukh Khan may have stepped away from the film. The reason is said to be his commitment to his upcoming project King and the need to maintain his current look for that film.

It is believed that Shah Rukh Khan does not want to reveal his appearance from King in any other film before its release. With Jailer 2 targeting a July release and King planned for December, this concern has reportedly influenced his decision.

Sources indicate that Shah Rukh Khan communicated this decision respectfully to Rajinikanth. Being a fan, he is said to have expressed interest in collaborating in future projects, either in a cameo or a full role.

Reports also suggest that both parties have mutually decided to part ways regarding this cameo. Following this, the Jailer 2 team is now exploring options to bring another major star from a different industry into the film.

From a box office perspective, Shah Rukh Khan’s presence could have boosted the film significantly in North India. His strong market pull, even with films like Dunki crossing 400 crore worldwide, highlights his impact.

Jailer 2 is considered one of the Tamil films with the potential to reach the 1000 crore mark. However, without Shah Rukh Khan, achieving that milestone may become more challenging.

Despite the lack of official confirmation, many Kollywood fans have expressed disappointment online. They feel this could have been a memorable collaboration in Indian cinema if it had materialised.
