Sidharth’s director slapped with defamation charges

Till recently Sidharth’s director Karthik Subbaraju of ‘Jigarthanda’ fame had been alleging that his producer is trying to sell the remake rights of the film without informing him, when he by contract has the right on the film. Even before the film’s release, a lot had been said and written about the apparent tiff. Sidharth too took to the director’s side then.

But the Madras Court has given verdict in favour of the producer of ‘Jigarthanda’. This in turn gave chance to the producer to decide upon filing a defamation case on Karthik Subbaraju and also for stopping him while selling the remake rights for the Hindi version.

Initially the producer planned to release the Telugu version along with the Tamil version. But because of the issues mentioned above, the Telugu version got delayed and though released later, it didn’t do well at box-office. The producer alleged that he suffered a loss of Rs.5 crore because of this delay. Hence the defamation case.
