Box Office: A Disaster Weekend @ Tollywood

Telugu Box Office Dull Weekend

The Telugu box office is usually explosive in nature when there is an interesting film running in the theatres. But the last weekend was an absolute disaster in terms of revenues as not a single film was able to bring the audience to theatres even in reasonable numbers.

Notably, the Telugu box office witnessed three films, arriving in the theatres last weekend in the form of Sigma, Thella Kagitham and Don’t Trouble the Trouble.

Sigma has Sandeep Kishan in the lead role and it is directed by Tamil Nadu chief minister Vijay’s son Jason. This film was promoted aggressively before the release, but it went absolutely nowhere.

Don’t Trouble the Trouble which has extremely talented Malayalam actor Fahad Faisal in the lead role and had the backing of SS Karthikeya who produced it was also turned down by the Telugu audience. The reviews were not positive, and the potential outcome at the ticket counters was also very disappointed.

Lastly, we have this Thella Kagitham youngsters in the lead roles and it was a washout too.

Telugu audience simply did not turn up to theatres in big volume this weekend and that resulted in outright rejection of all these mentioned films. It has to be seen if the coming weeks are going to be any better as we have multiple big options coming up like Ranabaali and Jailer 2.
