Murugadoss in Trouble? Rs 10 Cr Demand After Disaster

Sivakarthikeyan’s Madharaasi, directed by AR Murugadoss, was released in theatres on September 5 last year. The film received mixed responses from audiences and critics. Despite strong expectations, the overall reception remained divided across regions.

Even with Sivakarthikeyan’s popularity, Madharaasi managed to collect around Rs 90 crore worldwide. Due to the mixed word of mouth, the film failed to sustain momentum. It eventually ended its theatrical run with a disaster status.

Amid this, reports suggest that the producer of Madharaasi has filed a complaint against AR Murugadoss. The complaint was reportedly submitted to the Directors’ and Producers’ Councils. The producer is said to be demanding Rs 10 crore as compensation.

According to the producer, AR Murugadoss initially quoted a budget of Rs 150 crore. However, by the time the film was completed, the cost had increased to around Rs 170 crore. The claim states that the project lacked proper planning during execution.

It is also alleged that the director was simultaneously working on Sikandar starring Salman Khan. This parallel commitment is believed to have impacted the film’s progress. The producer argues that this contributed to the overall delay and budget increase.

Reports indicate that after discussions with the council, AR Murugadoss agreed to compensate differently. He has reportedly offered to write and provide a Telugu version of Ramana 2 for free to the production house.

Following this news, social media reactions have intensified. Many users are questioning whether Madharaasi even reached its break-even mark. This has led to debates about the film’s actual financial performance.

Several users have also pointed out the success meet celebration held by the team. They are questioning how such celebrations were conducted despite the film underperforming at the box office. This has added to the ongoing criticism.

Some critics believe AR Murugadoss should have focused only on Madharaasi. They feel that working on Sikandar simultaneously affected the film’s execution. While the story had potential, many believe it did not translate well on screen.

As of now, there are no official updates on AR Murugadoss’s next project. It remains to be seen whether he can deliver a strong comeback with his upcoming film. The industry is closely watching his next move.
