Sony LIV Eyeing Telugu OTT Space With Small Films

Sony Liv has been trying to expand its viewer base in the twin Telugu states with exclusive Telugu content. The OTT platform has been lining up a fair few direct to OTT Telugu releases in the recent past.

A couple of months ago, Vivaha Bhojanambu, a small-budget Telugu film featuring comedian Satya skipped theatrical release and premiered on Sony Live. It was followed by recent outings, Aakashavaani, and Priyuralu, two other small-time Telugu films.

Now, Sony Liv has lined up a film titled Family Drama, which has Suhas of Colour Photo fame in the lead role. This film is set to premiere on Sony Liv very soon. This is the third consecutive small-budget Telugu film to premiere on Sony Liv.

At a time when Amazon Prime, Aha, Netflix, and other OTT platforms are lining up big-ticket releases, Sony Liv is sticking to low budget films. The big question is, how big of a reach can these films bring to Sony Liv?
