Venky Should Be A Happy Man, But…

After nearly a decade, Surya has delivered a reasonable box office success with Karuppu. This film is reporting pretty decent revenues at the box office, despite the earlier weak reviews.

The success of this film must be more important than what appears to the eye not just for Suriya but also Venky Atluri.

Venky who had earlier delivered blockbuster Lucky Bhaskar with Dulquer Salman is currently working with Suriya for his upcoming project. It is always a good thing when a hero delivers a successful film before your film and that’s a pleasant outcome for Venky at the professional level.

But this doesn’t transcend too much into the actual prospect of the Surya-Venky film which is evidently from a completely contrasting genre. Venky is sticking to his urbane stylish approach again this time around, as opposed to Suriya’s unapologetic mass look in Karuppu.

Venky isn’t big on commercial tropes like most action films recently and he relies more on narrative approach over engineered elevation blocks. So, this talented filmmaker will have to be on the top of his game again with Suriya this time around.

Karuppu will primarily be a solace film for Suriya that reignited his commercial success. But again, Venky will have to do all the heavy lifting himself next with the Suriya film as he’s coming up with a completely urbane genre. So in a way, managing the mass appeal of Suriya after a powerful portrayal in Karuppu could only pose an additional challenge to Venky as a director.
