Vishnu Manchu is one of the few actors in the industry to have taken up subtitling seriously as he understands its purpose. His last three films had English subtitles, and therefore, were well received by non-Telugu speaking audiences as well. Vishnu has now decided to take this initiative up a notch by setting up a subtitling unit.
Vishnu wants to lead this initiative by convincing Telugu producers to get all their films subtitled by his unit. He is even planning to get big-budget films such as Baahubali and Rudhramadevi. It was only in the last twelve months, Telugu industry has shown keen interest towards subtitling and it was an alien concept before that. Vishnu has decided to release his latest Telugu film Rowdy worldwide with English subtitles.
If Vishnu’s concern is really to take Telugu cinema globally, then it’s a great initiative. But if it’s only to mint money, then i don’t see the purpose of even taking this huge step to set up a subtitling unit.
