The Paradise 6 Days BO: Nani’s Film Already in Last Leg?

The Paradise faces a major box office drop

The Paradise is now struggling badly at the box office after managing to stay afloat during its opening weekend. The film witnessed another major drop on Tuesday, making it clear that the negative word of mouth is taking a heavy toll.

In India, the film collected around Rs. 4.50 crores on Tuesday, which is nearly 25% lower than Monday. Monday itself was already a poor day for the film. Compared to its Rs.50 crore opening day, Tuesday’s business has fallen to less than 10%. That is a very poor hold for a big-ticket film.

According to trade, The Paradise has collected around Rs. 113.25 crores in India in six days. It opened with Rs. 49.75 crores on Thursday, followed by Rs. 17.50 crores on Friday, Rs. 17.50 crores on Saturday and Rs. 18.25 crores on Sunday. The film then crashed to Rs. 5.75 crores on Monday and another Rs. 4.50 crores on Tuesday.

This kind of decline was expected after the reports the film received. The Paradise somehow avoided a major crash during the opening weekend because of its huge pre-release hype, Nani’s credibility, Telangana flavor, and strong curiosity the project. But once the weekend ended, the actual audience response started showing at the box office.

Monday exposed the weakness, particularly in Andhra. Tuesday has made the situation even worse.

Nizam remains the only relatively strong market for the film. The Paradise has collected around Rs. 50.75 crores in Nizam in six days and could finish somewhere below the Rs. 60 crore mark. That would be an excellent number for a Tier-2 hero if considered in isolation. The film might breakeven only in Nizam.

But The Paradise cannot be judged in isolation. The expectations surrounding the film were massive. With Nani, Srikanth Odela, the scale, songs and hype, the film was expected to compete for the biggest numbers of the year. Instead, the negative word of mouth has severely restricted its run.

The overseas market has also completely slowed down after the four-day weekend, with negligible collections coming in now. The worldwide total has reached around Rs. 140 crores in six days.

The film is now heading towards a lifetime worldwide gross of around Rs. 165–170 crores.

That makes The Paradise a massive, missed opportunity. The hype and craze were strong enough for the film to potentially cross Rs. 300 crores worldwide if the content had delivered and the word of mouth was even decent.

Instead, the film is now fighting to finish around half that potential.
