Nani and Srikanth Odela’s The Paradise has received a mixed response on Day 1. The advance bookings were strong, but the real test begins from Day 2. That is when the initial rush settles and the film has to depend more on audience word of mouth.

Now, the weather has added another hurdle. Telangana is facing heavy rain, with intense spells expected on September 24 and 25. Coastal Andhra Pradesh is also seeing heavy rain, while parts of Rayalaseema are facing thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds.

Hyderabad has another factor to deal with as Ganesh Nimajjanam activities are also taking place. The immersion process brings major traffic restrictions and large crowds across several parts of the city, which could affect the movement of audiences to theatres.

For The Paradise, the timing is not ideal. The film needs steady footfalls after its opening day, but mixed talk, rain and the Ganesh Nimajjanam activity are all coming into play at the same time.

It is too early to say whether these factors will affect the film’s collections. That will depend on the conditions on the ground and audience turnout over the next few days. Still, the combination makes the post-Day 1 phase more important for the film.

A strong opening has given The Paradise the start it needed. Now comes the harder part: holding that momentum through Day 2 and beyond.
