NTR-Trivikram God of War Budget Concerns
NTR and Trivikram coming together for God of War was expected to be one of the biggest projects in Telugu cinema. However, the film is now facing several questions even before it goes on floors. What once looked like an exciting combination is now turning into a massive financial and production challenge.
The biggest concern is the reported Rs. 500 crores budget. Trivikram has never made a pan-India film on this scale. With OTT deals becoming smaller and platforms waiting for completed films before making big offers, recovering such a huge investment will not be easy. The makers cannot depend on pre-release business the way they could a few years ago.
Trivikram‘s recent box-office result has added to the uncertainty. Aadarsha Kutumbam AK47 was expected to give him a strong comeback after Guntur Kaaram. Instead, the film disappointed big time. Its reported budget also increased heavily due to delays and reshoots. This has raised doubts about whether Trivikram can handle a massive project like God of War after fumbling with a basic commercial entertainer like AK47. A successful film would have given God of War much-needed confidence among buyers and investors.
There are also questions about Harika & Hassine. The banner has been closely associated with Trivikram, but there is talk that it is hesitant to take up a project of this scale. A co-producer could be brought in, but the financial commitment remains huge.
Time is another concern. God of War is based on the Kumaraswamy concept, and other filmmakers, including Dhanush, are exploring similar subjects. If the project takes another two years to reach theatres, it could lose its freshness.
Trivikram is said to have invested heavily in pre-production and wants to make the film. But the bigger question is whether NTR and the producers are equally ready to take this risk. Only time will tell the answer.
