Thunderbolts Early Reviews

As Marvel fans gear up for Thunderbolts release on May 1st, early reviews from the film have started coming out. After the disaster of the latest addition to the MCU, Captain America: Brave New World, this film has huge expectations to pull the franchise back together.

The reviews largely weigh on the positive side as Indian fans can’t stop themselves from being impressed by the fresh characters and story. Some have termed it as a “comeback” film of MCU, reviving the old days of the franchise, away from all the multiverse shenanigans.

Florence Pugh and David Harbour stand out, especially Pugh who comes as a near-perfect successor to Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow. Critics say that the film is “far darker and more serious than you’re expecting it to be” but at the same time a fun and entertaining ride.

There are mixed reviews on the IMAX format, as some feel it is an unnecessary gimmick and doesn’t add anything. Nonetheless, it doesn’t take anything from the writing prowess as it is purely made for Marvel die-hards who turned their backs after Brave New World.

At the same time, fans are praising the film for keeping it fresh and original for anyone who hasn’t followed the MCU ever, keeping the internal references to the minimum. It has something for every viewer as it witnesses the origin story of “Marvel’s biggest losers.”

Early bookings are looking promising as is the case with every Marvel film. But can this trend continue and revitalize a creatively dying franchise? Many believe so.
