Tiger Nageswara Rao’s Huge Gamble

Ravi Teja is attempting a Pan-India film for the first time with “Tiger Nageswara Rao” and is actively promoting the film in the Hindi regions.

However, the makers have locked an excruciatingly long run time of 181 minutes which might turn out to be very risky for the film’s fate at the box office.

There have been films in recent times like Vikram, RRR, Arjun Reddy, Sita Ramam, and KGF which clocked in runtime close to three hours. But those films succeeded in holding the audience’s attention with immersive storytelling by the directors and such instances are rare.

The director of the film Vamsee is a debutant and no one has any idea about his skills as a director and storyteller. The subject is also not a regular one and requires epic storytelling.

The film deals with a certain period in time and if the film’s narration and characters fail to connect with the audience then making them sit for more than 3 hours in theater will become a very tough task. Boredom and redundancy will creep in making the audience in theaters impatient and thus creating a negative talk for the film.

If makers trim it after the release, then that step will also create a negative perception that there are flaws in the film. More often than not, lengthy runtimes have always harmed the film’s prospects. It’s like playing with fire.

Let’s hope Tiger Nageswara Rao turns out to be super engaging and the gamble pays off in a big way for the makers.
