To Make or Not to make Remakes!

Having seen the success of some remade films, Bollywood industry as a collective started giving far too much importance to remakes of popular films. As such, the trend of remakes was born leading to the making of many such films like Don, Devdas Sholay, Karz, Parineeta among others. However, now that the industry has seen Sajid Khan’s Himmatwala falling on its face, the directors are now being forced to rethink this new trend.

As for the issue, the people in the industry are divided in their opinion. Veteran actors are of the view that old classics should be left alone. In this context, Deepti Naval of 56 years of age and the maker of original Chasme Baddoor commented that creating remakes has become a shortcut instead of finding newer ideas and working hard. However younger generations like 25 years old actress Taapsee believe that there is no harm in making remakes of successful films.
