The total combined business of all the Sankranti releases of 2018 would be less than the share of single film Khaidi No 150 which was the big festival release last year.
The last time Sankranti season had similar performance to 2018 was in the year 2011 where Mirapakay was the highest grosser against Balayya’s ‘Parama Veera Chakra’. The combined business of all releases was slightly more than Adurs that came the previous, and there were two other significant grosses. Similarly, despite the names of Pawan Kalyan, Venkatesh (Gopala Gopala), Director Shankar and Vikram (I), Sankranti 2015 was a disappointment. The very next year saw the business almost get doubled, another year later, it tripled.
All said and done, regarding loses, the year 2018 will standout for the disastrous results in all-time lists, and it is mostly due to one major film.
