Varanasi Is Not A Two-part Film, Confirms Rajamouli

Director S. S. Rajamouli is stepping into a never seen before kind of project with Varanasi, and the teaser glimpse already made one thing clear, this is going to be massive in scale and ambition.

In a recent interview with Hollywood media, Rajamouli opened up about an important creative call he made for the film. He confirmed that the team did briefly think about turning Varanasi into a two part film. But that idea did not last long. They quickly dropped it and decided to tell the entire story in a single film.

This stands out even more when you look at what happened after Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. After that historic success, many Telugu and Indian filmmakers rushed to announce sequels. In many cases, it felt more like a money driven move than a story driven one, with very little clarity or vision behind those sequel plans.

Rajamouli, however, chose a different path. Despite Varanasi having huge scope, big hype, and clear commercial potential, he confirmed that it will be a single part film. He also revealed that the runtime will be around three hours, giving him enough room to tell the story properly without forcing a split.

This decision says a lot about Rajamouli as a filmmaker. He is not chasing trends or easy extensions. He is focused on getting the story right, even if that means saying no to bigger business possibilities. That kind of clarity and commitment to quality is exactly why Rajamouli stands in a league of his own.
