Victory Venkatesh has been very selective about the projects recently. While he has expressed interest in working with directors like Tharun Bhascker and Trinadha Rao Nakkina, he eventually backed out of those projects for various reasons.
Other senior actors typically approve two or three projects at once to ensure they have backup films in place but Venkatesh seems to be taking a more cautious approach.
After his last film Saindhav which became a disaster last Sankaranthi, his next release will be Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, which is set for release in 2025 Sankranthi.
Venkatesh has great faith in Anil Ravipudi, with whom he has delivered successful films like F2 and F3 in the past.
Recently, there have been reports that Venkatesh has given the green light to a script by Vimal Krishna, the director of DJ Tillu.
DJ Tillu turned out to be a cult blockbuster. But for reasons unknown, Vimal Krishna didn’t direct its sequel. It will soon be three years since DJ Tillu was released, and he hasn’t started his next project yet.
However, he has been approved by an actor like Venkatesh, whose comic timing is on par with the best in the world. We have to see how Vimal Krishna utilizes Venkatesh as an actor without making him do cringe stuff.
It will be interesting to see if he can design a cult character like DJ Tillu for Venkatesh as well.
This film could offer a clearer picture of Vimal Krishna’s writing and directing skills without the unique dynamic Siddhu Jonnalagadda brought to DJ Tillu.
