Vishal’s MLA Dreams Shattered

Vishal, who is the president of Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council had filed nomination papers from RK Nagar Assemble Bypoll that is scheduled for December 21. While Vishal had tweeted that his nomination was accepted by election council, tweeting “Honesty and justice have won,” it has now come out that the EC has rejected his nomination for not fulfilling all the conditions for valid nomination,

The whole issue was over the proposers for Vishal’s nomination. Two of Vishal’s proposers Sumathy and Deepan had appeared before the returning officer claiming that they had not proposed the nomination Vishal and that their signatures were forged. Vishal had then countered with an audio clip that supposedly claimed that Sumathy had been coerced to appear before the RO. However, the RO has rejected this claim saying the veracity of the person speaking in the audio clip cannot be confirmed.

As consequence, Vishal’s nomination has now been canceled with only valid proposers instead of the required 10.
