With just five days to go before its release, War 2 has secured 5,000 screens across India. Apart from Hindi, the film will also release in Tamil and Telugu, with limited Hindi shows scheduled in states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The count includes premium formats such as IMAX and Dolby, confirming that Yash Raj Films is aiming for a massive nationwide launch that could surpass the box office numbers of War in 2019.
In the single-screen segment, 90% of the slots have been taken by War 2, making it the clear frontrunner in the North Indian market. Sources indicate that with its extended weekend opening, the action-thriller is expected to draw heavy crowds. Being the newest addition to the YRF Spy Universe, it is set to dominate the Hindi belt, with clearer predictions for day-one earnings likely by Wednesday once early booking trends become visible.
Releasing alongside Rajinikanth’s Coolie, which has secured only non-prime slots in most single screens, War 2 appears to have the upper hand. Still, Coolie has managed to grab around 15-20% of multiplex slots in North India, including a Hindi-dubbed version. The hype around War 2 is growing steadily, and advance booking will open nationwide on August 10, 2025. Ticket prices are expected to be higher than usual, adding to the film’s projected earnings.
With both higher ticket rates and a wide screen presence, the film is positioned for a strong opening day and weekend. The big question now is whether War 2 can set a new benchmark for the YRF Spy Universe. Only time will tell if this highly anticipated sequel meets those lofty expectations.
