“I am always after Original stories. I never did remakes. Lucky Bashkar looked like an authentic story. The financial backdrop is refreshing like Wolf of Wall Street. Venky is also changing genres after doing love stories,” Dulquer Salmaan said.

About similarities with Scam 1992, Dulquer said, “People may feel it similar because of the financial background and Rags to Riches Story. But then, Lucky Bashkar will be distinctly different”.

He refused to divulge if Bashkar will have an anti-climax like how Harshad Mehta and Telgi had towards the end of their lives.

Dulquer had a detailed explanation about how the Malayalam film industry is able to make simple but effective stories.

He explained how everyone in Kerala is a writer and how Malayalam being a small market forces filmmakers to make small films with good stories within budgets.

Dulquer explained how different it is shooting in Hyderabad and Kerala.

“Here we have Studio culture. We shoot in sets erected in the Studios cut off from outside the World. In Kerala, we do not have such luxury. We only shoot in Live locations,” DQ said. He also said Malayalam heroes do not have the luxury of taking high remunerations like Telugu heroes.

This is an interesting conversation with Dulquer about the Malayalam Film Industry.

Dulquer also spoke highly about the choices Prabhas is making these days. He is in all praise for Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam and says the movie was ahead of its time and did not get its due.

He also revealed how he became a part of Prabhas’s Kalki and about Kalki 2.
