Last weekend, Tollywood saw three new theatrical debuts – Gaami, Bhimaa, and Premalu. Of the three of them, Gaami managed to make the most noise and expectedly so.
As per the new poster released by the makers, the film managed to gross over Rs 20 crore at the box office in the opening weekend. It has reached the break-even mark in most areas and is heading for profits.
In the USA, the film is heading towards the $500K mark and this is an impressive number for the Vishwak Sen starrer.
Bhimaa opened on a moderate note on the opening day but couldn’t continue the momentum further. It had a below-par opening weekend. The lack of pre-release anticipation worked against this commercial potboiler.
Premalu had its Telugu release on Friday after Rajamouli’s son Karthikeya acquired the Telugu theatrical rights. The stakes are low on this one. The initial interest from the Telugu audience has been rather stagnant but it could pull a section of the younger generation to the theaters.
Gaami is the clear winner of the weekend box office as the Vishwak starrer is already in the safe zone is most areas.
