The Indian box office witnessed not one, but two star Hero driven films this weekend. Two films discussion here are Sitare Zameen Par and Kuberaa.
While Sitare Zameen Par Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan in the lead role, Kuberaa has Dhanush and Akkineni Nagarjuna in the lead roles. Both the films released at the box office last weekend.
Coming to the actual theatrical returns of these two films, it needs to be said that they both have done fairly well.
According to the latest box office reports, Kubbra has collected in the range of ₹50 crore in the opening weekend. This is a pretty impressive number for a genre oriented film from Sekhar Kammula.
Coming to the Aamir Khan film, it reportedly collected in the range of ₹56 crore nett in the opening weekend. If we are the overseas collections, also to this tally, then it reaches ₹95 crore.
Despite featuring Aamir Khan in the lead role, this film did not generate much hype before the release, but the box office returns have been fairly positive.
The acceptance that Aamir has amongst the neutral audience and family folk is clearly evident here as the film had a superb Saturday and Sunday.
This weekend, we witnessed two genre oriented films and it is good to note that the audience have lapped up both of them to varying degrees.
