What is Ganga chasing -18 Cr?

After all the tamasha over the release, finally the film Ganga is going to hit the screens today. This has been easily one of the most hyped films that were to hit the screens couple of weeks back. Has the two weeks delay had any effect on the expectations of the film or the massive success in Tamil increased the hype on the film further? If it’s the latter here is what Ganga is chasing?

Raghava Lawrence without any doubt is a big name when it comes to mass audience in the Telugu states. He has in the past directed and acted in many successful films too. One among them was Kanchana itself which came silently but proved to be a massive blockbuster at the box office becoming one of the top 5 dubbing grosser of all time at that point.

The trade is now hoping the film Ganga repeats the same feat both in terms of openings and the long run. In terms of openings the number one spot is an impossible mountain to climb set up by Shankar’s I. It is the second and third positions occupied by Lingaa and Robo that are up for grabs as they look reasonable to surpass given the holiday and dry box office spell that TFI is currently in. Anything above 18 Cr and the film is looking a place in all time top 3 among dubbed films.

Let us see which of these two benchmarks Ganga is able to achieve. If the film does manage to get above 20 Cr we will also be looking at first blockbuster movie of the summer in TFI as well. With so much at stake let’s see where the film ends.
