When Hollywood franchise ran away at box office

This is one of the rare weekends at the box office in not just Telugu cinema but across India where a foreign film ran away with the moolah at the box office overtaking the local releases, the film being seventh instalment of Fast and Furious series.

Fast and Furious 7 which opened on April 2, a day before the Telugu and Hindi releases in respective markets started off the account with record opening, the biggest so far for a Hindi film. It was the same case in Telugu as well as it registered better occupancies all over.

The performance has come as huge surprise to the trade as it was expected to open big but not this big. They are now unanimously excited to see how big a film like Avengers 2 could open in three weeks from now as its more popular and have bigger stars and popular characters in it.
