Why Malayalam Industry Banning OTT?

Malayalam cinema has gained a lot of recognition in the past few years thanks to the OTT boom. Non-Malayalam speaking audiences, be it Telugu, Tamil, or Hindi audience, all of them got connected to Malayalam films in a big way after watching them on various OTT platforms with subtitles.

Many Malayalam stars like Fahaadh Faasil, Tovino Thomas, and others have become popular due to people watching their films on OTT.

Despite all the recognition Malayalam cinema gained due to OTT platforms, the Malayalam industry has till now not produced even one original Malayalam film or web series for any OTT platform.

It is quite strange that the Malayalam industry is neglecting the platform which has given it the maximum recognition and mileage. Let’s hope soon Malayalam industry will soon produce some very exciting original films and web series for various OTT platforms.
