Why Remaking This Hit Movie May Not Be A Good Idea?

Whenever there is a successful big movie in other languages, the first thing that comes in mind is if it can be remade. The Telugu producers are always on the lookout for such concepts and films. The latest flick to catch the imagination is Gully Boy.

The Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer is a rag to riches story set in the Dharavi backdrop of Mumbai. The central character dreams of becoming a rapper, and the director Zoya Akhtar wonderfully executes that. If we only look at the core story, it is a done to death plot. However, the setting and extraordinary performances make Gully Boy come alive.

A remake might not work for the same reason. The rap element will be hard to replicate in Telugu and get it right. And without that, the movie would fall flat even if the acting is spot-on. We have to wait and see where the remake idea finally ends. Gully Boy, meanwhile is holding well and doing excellently in weekdays as well, across major metros.
