Following the terrible failure of Gandhi Talks, Vijay Sethupathi is all set to return with his next release Baththa directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan, which is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on October 1st.
Since Vijay Sethupathi and director Balaji Tharaneetharan duo previously delivered the cult film Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom and because it is produced by Atlee, Baththa has good expectations among cinephiles.
However, shockingly, the pre-release buzz among the general audience is very poor. If this current trend continues, Baththa will face a weak opening and its success will depend solely on word of mouth.
In response to this poor pre-release buzz, many trade experts suggest that the makers of the film have done very poor marketing so far. Furthermore, recently released songs composed by Sai Abhyankkar from this film failed to create an impact, which is another reason the buzz for Baththa remains low.
They also note that recent controversies surrounding Vijay Sethupathi, due to his indirect attack on the ruling party TVK and Vijay, have backfired on Baththa and are severely hurting the film’s buzz.
Therefore, they feel the makers of Baththa should plan wisely and carry out solid promotions for the film. They also suggest that, since multiple Kollywood films are releasing this weekend, there is a strong possibility of Baththa going unnoticed. Hence, they claim that if the makers fail to promote the film well in the coming days, it runs a huge risk of ending up as a failure.
Nevertheless, there are still eight days left until the release of Baththa and it remains to be seen how the makers will utilize this time and whether Baththa will emerge as a successful venture upon its release on October 1st.
