Why Do These Folks Desperately Want Rajamouli to Fail?

There is no doubt that Rajamouli is the number one director in India today. But at the same time, a section of Telugu audiences, especially on social media seem to be waiting for his first flop.

It might sound strange, but this mindset reflects how some people take pleasure in seeing successful individuals fail.

That is exactly what we are witnessing after the first look of Prithviraj Sukumaran and Rajamouli’s new film dropped. The response is mixed, and while not all criticism is fake or fabricated, a portion of fans online appear desperate to see Rajamouli fail. They draw comparisons, saying Tamil director Shankar’s era ended, Raju Hirani delivered his biggest flop and now it’s Rajamouli’s turn with Mahesh Babu’s upcoming film.

We agree that posters do matter, but when it comes to big names like Rajamouli and massive-budget films posters often don’t hold much weight. If you recall, the posters for Rajamouli’s biggest hit Baahubali were widely trolled and the same went for RRR. Did that stop these films from becoming blockbusters? Not at all.

Of course, no filmmaker can maintain a 100% success rate forever, and Rajamouli is no exception. But actively rooting for someone’s failure only exposes bitterness and insecurity. What do they gain if Rajamouli fails? It reflects nothing but a sick mindset.

The good thing is that the majority of movie lovers continue to root for him and hope for another massive success. SSMB 29, a globe-trotting adventure is set to unveil its first look on JioCinema and Hotstar on November 15. That moment will officially set the ball rolling for what could be Rajamouli’s next big chapter.
