RRR had its rights sold for a staggering 40 crore rupees in North America, which was a groundbreaking figure. Now, Salaar has managed to secure rights for 36 crore rupees ($4.5 Million), marking it as the second-largest deal after RRR, according to reports.
The film has to gross around 9-10 million dollars in North America to reach the break-even point, including theater rentals and commissions and other promotion costs.
Prabhas’ last three films have barely crossed the $3 Million mark. Adipurush collected around $3.1 Million, Radhe Shyam was around $2.2 Million, and Saaho’s gross was approximately $3.3 Million.
Expecting $10 Million from Salaar might seem a too big ask right now based on the performance of Prabhas’ last few films. But Prashanth Neel is one of the massiest directors who understands the pulse of the audience. Even if he delivers a film that meets the expectations of the audience, $10 Million is still a very big number for a mass film like Salaar.
It has to be noted that pre-sales for Day 1 alone grossed more than $600K [₹4.99 cr] from the USA before the film was finally postponed from September 28.
The producers of “Salaar,” Hombale Films, have officially announced that a new release date will be revealed soon, providing hope and anticipation for fans eagerly waiting for the film.
