Will Pushpa 2 Deliver On OTT?

The first part of Pushpa was a raging sensation on OTT. The film trended big time on Amazon Prime Video and its mannerisms were later copied by global stars like Virat Kohli, David Warner and others.

However, what worked primarily for Pushpa 1 on Amazon was the Covid season. A section of the audience who avoided theaters at that time lapped up the film on OTT, giving it a surge of viewership.

Then, during the Covid times, the work from home culture was at its peak, meaning people had more time at hand. This directly contributed to the viewership of Pushpa.

Now, in the case of Pushpa 2, the massive influx of the audience is happening at the theaters itself. The film is going absolutely bonkers at the Hindi box office, meaning people are interested to watch it on the big screens.

What this increased visibility in theaters also does is that it could contain the OTT reach of the film. As a result, Pushpa 2 might not have a mad rush on OTT.

The film could be watched at a leisurely pace by the folk who already watched it in theaters. Moreover, the work from home culture is also going down, meaning there isn’t as much spare time at hand. This could also affect the film to whatever degree.

While Pushpa 2 is still a big deal, the initial reactions from the OTT folk might not be as concentrated as what was for Pushpa 1.
